Load Measurement System

Fast, accurate SOLAS-compliant load measurement.

The system is quick and easy to install, meaning minimal downtime for your equipment. The accuracy of the measurement data has been certified by an independent third party to guarantee compliance with the new weight verification requirements set by the International Maritime Organization's Safety of Life At Sea (SOLAS) Convention. According to the requirements introduced in July 2016, shippers must record the VGM of every container being loaded on board a ship, using calibrated and certified equipment.

What equipment can it be used for? 

The Load Measurement system is available for: 

• Reachstackers

• Rubber-tired gantries

• Straddle carriers

It can be retrofitted onto both Kalmar machines and equipment from other manufacturers. Contact us to verify the upgrade availability for your fleet.

How does it work?

The VGM of the load is taken from the equipment's weighing system and can be sent either to a printer in the cabin or via the cloud to an external reporting system such as Kalmar SmartFleet* or your terminal operating system.

* Kalmar SmartFleet is only available for Kalmar reachstackers and forklifts.
