Kalmar Service Hero: Cesar Aagaard from Sweden

Life on the Road in Southern Sweden

For Cesar Aagaard, the best part of being a field service technician is the freedom of the open road. He has been part of the Kalmar team for five and a half years, starting in the workshop before moving into the field. Today, his office changes every single morning.

“My favorite part of this job is that every day is like a road trip,” Cesar says. “You get to go out and meet new people all the time. No two days are ever the same. It feels like the first day at work every single day.”

Cesar’s work takes him across southern Sweden, where the deep forests and sawmills keep him very busy. “In southern Sweden, forklift trucks are the most common, as there are many sawmills,” he explains. “We have a lot of forest. But we work on pretty much everything that has an engine and four wheels.”He takes his workshop directly to the people who need him most. “A normal working day involves going out to the customer and troubleshooting and working with the machines,” Cesar says. “We do everything from regular service to troubleshooting, and this is done on the customer's premises.”

A partner you can count on
One of Cesar’s regular stops is the Port of Karlshamn. Jörgen Svensson, the Workshop Manager at the port, relies on Kalmar machines to keep their busy container terminal moving. When you are unloading and loading ships, you need equipment that stays running.
“We have a good collaboration with Kalmar,” Jörgen explains. “When we need help or technical input, their team is quickly on the spot. We are very happy with the products and the support we get from Cesar."

The Kalmar family
Even though Cesar spends a lot of time driving between customer sites, he never feels like he is working alone. “Each department is like its own little family,” Cesar says. “Even if we do not see each other every day, we are very connected. The company really invests in us and in the quality of the machines we fix.”

Building a future in the countryside
When he is not troubleshooting machines at a sawmill or a port, Cesar is busy with a massive project of his own. “In my spare time, I am building a house in the countryside,” he says. For Cesar, the peaceful environment of southern Sweden is where he feels most at home. “Walking in the woods and living in the countryside is also a big part of my spare time,” he adds.
While he is happy being hands on for now, he does have a clear vision for how his journey might evolve. “As a future direction, it would be perhaps to stop the wrenching and sit in an office instead,” Cesar shares. But even if he eventually trades his tools for a desk, his heart remains with the company. “I cannot really see myself at any other company than Kalmar,” he says.
