A Kalmar Straddle Carrier operates independently to other cranes, picking and placing containers on the ground or on your container stacks, allowing you to decouple your operations both on your quayside with your STS and on your landside with other cranes.

Straddle Carriers can carry two containers at a time and place containers up to 4 high, whilst a Shuttle Carrier is more efficient when picking and placing single containers onto the ground.
